Morakniv Size system

Morakniv sizes. The original size of the morakniv, is the N.1. Then came N.2 and N.3. Then a size between 2 and 3 was needed and the size 2½ or 2A3 was born. There was also a size 1 ½ that was only produced by Carl Andersson. Size 4 and 5 were only produced by Erik Frost until the 19'60s. The size 5 is rare but the size 4 is the rarest of them all. The 4/0 and 3/0 were usually called pen knives. Hundred years ago a Swedish kid at age 7 would get a knife to sharpen his/her pencil at school. It would be the first proof of growing up and the responsibility that came with the knife was taken very seriously. There is some speculation on the web regarding the specific gender orientation("girl knife") of some of the models, pure false information. The reality is, that the size of each model, was just based on hand size. Photo comparison: from top: 4/0, 3/0, 2/0, 1/0, 1, 2, 2½ (or 2A3), 3, 4 and 5.
