Katrin-Jöns Persson is thought to be responsible for the name Mora knife. He was born 1839-03-11 in the town of Sollerön, about 15km south of Mora. Katrin Jöns Persson , married in Sold (Sollerön) with StikåAnna. His wife Anna lived at Stikågardn, now Frostgardn. In 1867 Katrin-Jöns Persson moves to Mora. His knife-making history began in the 1870s, when Jöns Persson started making his own knives in Östnor, when he founded Kånåsmirjö (wich means Kånå Smedjan or Kånå jorge). wich was Östnor's oldest workshop. He would sell a large array of metal tools from harness hooks, scissors etc and of course the knives. He took long trips up north to sell them, as far as Sundsvall in the North, more than 200km away(in today's world they are very short trips but imagine those journeys by horse and sled, in the winter).
